Last year was the first time I was able to attend the HNA Reunion, and it was also my first time to the northeast. I’ve lived in St. Charles, Illinois my whole life, and I just graduated from St. Charles East High School. In high school I was heavily involved in the theater department; I acted and worked backstage, but stage managing was my favorite. Writing is also a big part of my life, and this summer I’m directing a one act play that I wrote called “Just Something.” I was also a member of Science Honor Society, and my love for science and nature has led me to be an Environmental Studies major at Illinois Wesleyan University. I will start my freshman year of college this coming fall, and I’m very excited! I hope to be able to research and help the environment one day. I’m eager to begin this new chapter of my life, and I’m extremely grateful for the support of the HNA.

Joseph H. Huntley
2012

I’ve lived in Colorado for most of my life. To me, college is one of the best times to reinvent yourself, explore your interests, create new relationships, forge ahead in your studies, and find out who you really are. However, for me, this undergraduate program at Johns Hopkins University is just the beginning. I’m planning on taking a rigorous pre-med program, majoring in Molecular/Cellular Biology and Neuroscience. From there, I hope to attend medical school (hopefully at Johns Hopkins!) and eventually become a radiologist, possibly specializing in neuroradiology. While I realize that many years of education are in my future, I must keep telling myself to just take it one step at a time.

I can express nothing but my greatest gratitude for this scholarship award - as I begin my college experience and venture onwards, I’ll always think back and remember fondly the aid that was given to me when I needed it most.
